The Capstone Story

Capstone Property Management Ltd is a diversified real estate services company with its core mission to serve Athens County and improve communities within Southeastern Ohio.

The company was founded in 1987 as the Athens Builders Guild with the purpose of providing employment for Earl and Patricia Funk and, thereafter, for all income to support advancing Athens County. The Builders Guild initially focused on restoration of historic Athens County structures along with tree farming and forest management, and a later expansion in affordable housing resulted in increased property management responsibilities and a name change to Capstone in 2004.

Today Capstone continues its commitment to Athens County and Southeastern Ohio through

  • Affordable Housing. Provide residents with quality, affordable rental and home ownership opportunities;
  • Woodland Preservation. Preserve and steward 3,600 acres as healthy forests and wildlife habitats;
  • Community Development. Provide capital, expertise, and management to develop and sustain needed community resources;
  • Historic Preservation. Rehabilitate and recycle Athens County’s historic and neglected structures as preserved history.

The residents and business tenants that we currently serve and have housed in the past represent the essence and diversity of Athens, and we take very seriously the process of fostering positive living and working experiences. We embody our motto REAL ESTATE IS OUR BUSINESS… COMMUNITY BUILDING IS OUR PASSION, and while we may think globally occasionally, as a locally raised, owned and operated business our actions are all local.
